Hati Nurani (conscientious heart or mercy) is the name of the orphanage on the Sumba Island in Indonesia. It is also the only hope for many orphans of Sumba.
Among the numerous orphanages on the island, Hati Nurani is one of the poorest. Regrettably supports the government only state-owned orphanages run by churches and mosques. The Hati Nurani project was founded by the former nun Agnes about a year ago and one package of rice per child – is the only governmental support. Hati Nurani gives home to 30 children in age from 2 to 21 years old, both healthy and disabled, who live together. The provision from government lasts for three months. There is no help for tuition, medicine or electricity. The children have no choice, but to rely on us.
If orphans want to survive, they have to work. They are self-sufficient: they breed pigs, chickens and ducks, have a vegetable garden, grow flowers and make baked goods and ice cream for sale. They also sale self-made flower pots.
The living conditions of children are characterized by poverty and the need to save money. This is more than a sufficient reason to take an action and support the orphanage. Such essentials as food, hygiene items, clothing and furniture are needed, as well as assistance with repair work.

The amount of € 250 per month covers all basic expenses for all children in the orphanage. This also includes English lessons, which are very important for successful future life of orphans.
